Taught academic discipline(s)

Teaching activities in the department of Neurosciences (UFR Sciences and Technics): He is mainly involved in functionnal neuroanatomy and behavioral neurosciences courses for under- and post-graduate students of Biology and Psychology curriculum.

Research topics

He is mainly interested in the study of hypothalamic and brainstem neurons involved in the pathophysiology of depressive-like states and comorbid conditions in an animal model of depression, the UCMS.

Activities / Resume

Samuel Leman obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2000 from the University of Lille 1 (France). His thesis was related to the role of adrenal preganglionic neurons during autonomic dysreflexia in paraplegic rats. His work was supervised by Prof. Henrique Sequeira.

He spent two post-doctoral years (2001-2003) in Dr Pascal Carrive's lab at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia (Dept of Anatomy, School of Medical Sciences), working on central control of cardiovascular functions during contextual conditioned fear in rats.  

In 2003, he joined as an assistant professor (Maître de Conférencesthe team EA3248 Psychobiology of Emotions at the University François Rabelais of Tours, which became in 2008, the Team 4 Affective Disorders of the UMR INSERM Unit U930 Imaging and the Brain at the University François Rabelais of Tours, France.
