Iconography and cinema : some key concepts
This class will be devoted to the question of the construction of "meaning" in visual works (mostly: painting,
photography and film). We will deal with some basic notions such as presence or absence of perspective,
illusion of "reality", editing... We will also try to contextualise visual works in relation with the historical period
when they were created. Two of the central concepts will revolve around the place of man in art and the
role/place of art in society.
