The NEOLAiA team, the University of Tours and Le Studium are pleased to present the results of the second call for applications of the Visiting Researchers Programme NEOLAiA/LE STUDIUM. This programme aims to strengthen scientific ties between the research units of the University of Tours and those of the partner universities within the NEOLAiA alliance by hosting researchers for periods ranging from 3 to 9 months.
Two European researchers will be hosted at the University of Tours
Jan Lazar, Associate Professor in the Department of Romance Studies, Faculty of Arts at the University of Ostrava, Czech Reublic.
Host research unit: Institut de Recherches Juridiques Interdisciplinaires, IRJI (Interdisciplinary Legal Research Institute) of the University of Tours.
Jan Lazar will be hosted for three months at the IRJI, in the frame of his research project, entitled “The Penetration of English Loanword Neologisms into French and Czech Legal Language”. His project addresses a topical issue in contemporary law: preserving the linguistic integrity of national legal systems despite the pressures of economic globalization and the dominance of common law in business. As part of his research stay, a field survey among law students at the University of Tours, along with the organization of a workshop, will foster intercultural and scientific exchanges.
Vasilis Kallis, Professor of Music Theory and Analysis in the Department of Music and Dance at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus
Host research unit: RicercarLab, Centre for Advanced Renaissance Studies, at the University of Tours.
Vasilis Kallis will be hosted for three months at the RicercarLab in the frame of his research project entitled “Felt Temporality and Experiential Structure: Parametric Analysis and Digital Modeling Across Musical Repertoires”. His project combines musical analysis, digital modeling of temporal parameters, and reflections on perceived temporality in listening. During his stay, he plans to integrate the RicercarLab online corpus into his research and present his findings in internal seminars.
